Helly Hansen Lark Winter Championships

Laura Lilly - 05th November 2014

You could be forgiven for asking is it really that time of year, when we freeze our toes off and wrap up in drysuits to race around Pitsford reservoir for our annual Winter Championships? Yes, the weather has so far been kind. It's mild outside and you can still wear flip flops (or maybe thats just us here in Cornwall).

November 15th and 16th sees the return to this great water for the ever popular championship racing and black tie bash in the evening. This year we are sharing the event with the N12 fleet who are racing their Gul Finale to the season. Saturday begins with a briefing at 11.30am and racing will begin at 12.30 with the N12 setting of first. There will be 3 races back to back and it is important to notice, that compared to previous years, we will not be coming ashore between races for lunch. Sunday will see two races back back with the N12 starting at 10am and the Larks at 10.05am

The evening bash will start at 6pm when the N12's will have their prizegiving. By 7pm we will arrive for a dinner of 3 courses which will be followed by the Lark prizegiving and then we will party till late, ending with a lot of amazing moves on the dance floor!

Entry for the weekend is 30 which can be paid on the day by cheque or cash. The evening meal ticket price has yet to be confirmed but the good news is it will be a lower price than previous years as we are sharing with another fleet. The meal ticket will not include wine this year so make sure you bring plenty of pennies for the bar!

As you may have seen on the Lark forum Sedgebrook Hall is fully booked and we are unable to secure rooms for our sailors. There are many hotels in Northampton to choose from and the sailing club has offered free camping for those brave enough to take the offer. If you wish to camp Friday or Sunday however there will be a charge of 10.
