Club Info

Hoo Ness is a friendly yacht club on the north side of the River Medway, opposite Chatham Maritime and Gillingham. It is easily accessed from London and all parts of Kent and provides access to some of the best sheltered sailing waters in the UK, with easy access to the Thames Estuary and beyond. The club is owned by its members and we practise self-help as far as possible to minimise the cost of membership. Although most of our members own sailing cruisers, we also have some members with motor cruisers and a few who have dinghies.

Directions to Club

Wherever you come from, make for junction 1 of the M2. Junction 1 is the point at which the A2 becomes the M2.

Leave at junction 1 and continue on the A289 following the signs for GRAIN (A228). Ignore all slip roads and you will reach a roundabout where you turn left on to the A228.

At the top of the hill, turn right at the roundabout into Bell's Lane (signed Hoo Marina).

At the bottom of Bell's Lane cross over at the cross roads into Church Road (joining alternative route), then, soon after passing a "SPAR" store, turn left into Vicarage Lane.

Continue to the bottom of Vicarage Lane, take the second right (signed Hoo Marina). Go slowly and carefully through Marina leaving through double gates at the west end, pass through the gap in the barrier and bear left. Continue until you reach Hoo Ness Yacht Club which should be in front of you.
